The paper should be organized around your thesis (argument), which is the main point of the entire essay. When developing a thesis for a comparative paper, consider how a comparison of the works provides deeper insight into the topic of your paper (i.e., think about why you have chosen to look at these particular works in relation to one another). In your analysis, consider the relationships among the following elements:

  • Content
  • Form (e.g., short story vs. poem)
  • Style

This the Critique the Instructor gave on “Rough Draft” submitted 2 weeks ago…

“Good start here!  So you’ve done a wonderful job of comparing the plots of these two pieces.  My concern is that right now, this essay almost exclusively deals with plot.  What you also need to talk about is form and style.  Form refers to elements such as setting, point of view, story vs. poem, etc.  Style refers to elements such as figurative language, symbolism, irony, etc.  What I recommend is that you break this essay into three sections between the intro and conclusion: Content, Form, and Style.  Then, identify the similarities and differences between the two works.  Be sure that you expand your ideas to develop Form and Style.  Explain what makes these works similar in terms of setting and point of view, as well as how they are different.  Explain which elements they are both using and which are different.  This will help to bring your paper in line with exploring all these elements.  Also, be sure to find plenty of resources to meet the expectations, but remember that finding the same story or poem in another book does not count toward this expectation.”

I will send you the original “rough draft” next…Once you place you bid please
