“The Financials”

For this exercise, you will consider your company’s financials, such as Income Statement, Cash Flow Projections, Balance Sheets.

1. Using your NAB Company Portfolio and the first year of your business plan for the company, complete the Income Statement, Cash Flow Projections, and Balance Sheet sections from the “Business Plan Financials” spreadsheet. (These files are found in the Student Center). Attach the completed Excel worksheet to the discussion thread.

• Remember to include your marketing costs from the Marketing Plan you completed in Week 6.
• Use the figures you arrived at in the operations and technology sections of your plan to help fill out your financial forms.
• Go through the worksheets in order. The Excel worksheets will automatically enter the numbers into your Income Statement as you enter them.
1. Develop the following financial sections of your NAB company’s Business Plan. Attach the completed Word document to the discussion thread.

• Describe how an organization’s mission statement and values are supported by specific aspects in the marketing, operations, technology, management, and social responsibility sections of a business plan.
• In a real life situation, feedback from your business plan development team can be extremely valuable. Explain the value of receiving feedback from your ‘team’ (your instructor and fellow students) on the various sections of your non-alcoholic beverage (NAB) business plan while you work towards making necessary revisions.

“Determining Responsibility” Please respond to the following:

• From the e-Activity, examine the seven criteria that contractors must meet in order to be deemed responsible. Determine which of these criteria is the most difficult to meet. Support your position. Then, propose a way to mitigate the challenge you presented.
• Consider the different perspectives of each of the following offices that are responsible for reviewing the final contract: the contracting office, the program office, and the small business office. Determine if there is any value to the information and resources on this Website in regard to announcing contract awards. Support your position.
• Determine the criteria for government contracts that preclude the notification of unsuccessful vendors (for example, in sealed bidding or the acquisition of commercial items). Create a brief scenario in which the criteria are applied.

• Imagine that you are a business manager for a mid-sized company. Propose one (1) overall strategy to build an effective business model in order to both monitor / control changes in business process and predict future business performance for your company. Provide a rationale (e.g., verification process) for your response.

• Per the textbook, in order to understand the causal relationship in business process, manager often asks “whys” to drill down the root cause of failures. Select one (1) project from your working or educational environment and propose at least three (3) “why” questions that you would ask in order to identify root cause of problem. Justify your responses.

• Per the textbook, trying to understand factors that impact the outcomes of business process is an important aspect of improving business operations. Conventional wisdom plans experiment one-factor-at-a-time (OFAAT). Compare and contrast the main advantages and disadvantages of OFAAT and DOE and select the approach (e.g., OFAAT or DOE) that you would use in order to obtain effective business process. Provide a rationale for your response.
• Select one (1) project from your working or educational environment that you would apply the DOE technique for the work process. Next, analyze the overall manner in which you would utilize DOE to manage and improve the work process of the project in question. Provide a rationale for your response.
