By now it is clear that in order for a business to attain and maintain success, they must have competitive advantage(s). “Competitive advantage is realized when one firm creates value in ways that its competitors cannot, such that the firm clearly performs better than its competitors” (Carpenter & Sanders, 2008, p. 25). In my current workplace we are in the business of land acquisition and development, as well as real estate sales. Our firm strives to attain a competitive advantage employing a dynamic strategy, where both internal and external perspectives are bridged (Carpenter & Sanders, 2008). As we have witnessed in years past, real estate can be a volatile industry, and regardless of the internal sources of uniqueness we are at the mercy of the cyclical nature of the economy and the industry at large.
